Bowling Green native and Mud Hens pitcher receive awards

Bowling Green native Andy Tracy and Mud Hens pitcher Lucas French were named the International League s player and pitcher of the week, the league office announced Monday.

Tracy, who plays for Lehigh Valley, hit .381 in six games for the IronPigs last week and delivered three home runs and 10 RBIs while scoring nine times.

The IronPigs won all six games Tracy played in last week. That includes a record-setting contest against Norfolk on Friday in which the slugging first-baseman hit two home runs, set a franchise record with four runs scored and also had five RBIs.

On the season, Tracy is hitting .242 with 12 home runs and 47 RBIs, with his home run and RBI totals ranking second in the IL.

French is a left-hander who had a deceptive 0-1 record last week. On Monday French allowed just one run on seven hits in eight innings against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the best-hitting team in the league, but suffered a 1-0 loss. Against Rochester on Sunday French gave up just one run on four hits in eight innings in a game the Hens eventually won 3-1 in 11.

For the week French allowed just 11 hits and one walk in 16 innings while fanning 18 for a 1.13 ERA. On the season, French is 4-4 with a 3.01 ERA.
