NORFOLK, Va. — Toledo lost to Norfolk 7-3 on Tuesday as the Tides completed a four-game sweep of the Mud Hens, who suffered their fifth consecutive loss.

Norfolk overcame a 3-1 deficit by scoring five times from the sixth through eighth innings, sending Toledo to its eighth loss in nine games.

The Tides scored a run in the second inning on a home run by Yamaico Navarro, but the Mud Hens got that run back in the third when Brad Davis walked, moved to second on a wild pitch, took third on a groundout, then scored on a single by Danny Dorn.

Toledo scored twice in the fourth when Jordan Lennerton doubled, John Lindsey walked, and Argenis Diaz lined a two-out, two-run double to right-center field.

But that was it for the Hens’ offense against Josh Stinson and the Norfolk bullpen as Toledo managed just three hits after the fourth inning.

The Tides scored a run in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI double by Travis Ishikawa, then tied the game in the sixth on a run-scoring double by Danny Valencia.

In the seventh inning, Norfolk scored a pair of runs off Toledo starter Derek Hankins and reliever Kenny Faulk. Hankins gave up a walk and a single, and Faulk came on to throw a wild pitch that moved the runners up a base, then gave up an RBI single to Trayvon Robinson and a sacrifice fly to Jason Pridie.

The Tides added two more runs in the eighth off Luke Putkonen, who gave up run-scoring singles to Navarro and Jonathan Schoop.

The Mud Hens, whose 7-20 record in April is the worst in the International League, will take today off after finishing a 2-9 road trip.

Toledo starts a four-game series with Charlotte on Thursday.
