FORT MILL, S.C. — Charlotte scored three runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth to pound the Mud Hens 8-4 Thursday in Toledo’s final game at Knights Stadium.

Charlotte will play in a new downtown stadium next season.

The game was scoreless until the fifth, when the Knights scored three times with two outs off Toledo starter Shawn Hill. Blake Tekotte got the rally started with a double, and he came home on a single by Gordon Beckham. Brent Morel followed with a two-run homer.

The Mud Hens took advantage of a Charlotte error to score a pair of unearned runs in the sixth. Nick Castellanos led off with a single, and with one out Bryan Holaday was safe on an error that allowed Castellanos to reach third.

Ben Guez hit a sacrifice fly that scored Castellanos, and Kevin Russo doubled high off the wall in left to bring home Holaday.

But Charlotte broke the game open with five runs in the sixth, including a Jim Gallagher grand slam.

Toledo got two runs back in the eighth when Danny Dorn slammed his team-leading 11th home run of the season.

The Mud Hens return home to begin a four-game series against Louisville today at Fifth Third Field starting at 7 p.m.

NOTE: Jordan Lennerton was hitless in four at-bats, ending his hitting streak at 18 games.
