Mud Hens outfielder claimed by Kansas City

Mud Hens outfielder Quintin Berry was claimed off waivers by Kansas City today.

Berry was placed on waivers Sunday when the Tigers acquired IF-OF Francisco Martinez in trade from Seattle. To open a spot on the 40-man roster, Detroit designated Berry for assignment, and he was claimed by the Royals.

Berry hit .168 with one home run and 15 RBIs in 49 games with the Hens. He stole 15 bases, which ranked sixth in the International League.
