ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Mud Hens scored seven runs during a sixth-inning surge to win the series finale 9-5 Tuesday against the Rochester Red Wings.
Toledo, which won for the sixth time in seven games, trailed 5-2 going to the sixth inning before its bats came alive.
Kevin Russo and Nick Castellanos singled to start the rally, then scored on Mike Cervenak’s two-run, two-out double. Ben Guez’s RBI single to tied the score at 5.
Argenis Diaz hit a two-run double to give the Mud Hens a lead, then scored on an error. Russo capped the rally with an RBI double that made it 9-5.
Robbie Weinhardt (1-0) earned the win in relief, allowing two runs in three innings. Starter Casey Crosby allowed three runs in three innings. He walked six batters.
Vance Worley (1-3) lost, allowing seven runs in 5⅔ innings.
