6/29/2013PAWTUCKET, R.I. — The Mud Hens snapped their six-game losing streak in high fashion, beating up on Pawtucket 10-6 on Friday night.
The win bookends an eight-game stretch in which the Red Sox and the Hens played against each other.
Toledo defeated Pawtucket on June 21 before losing the next six to the Red Sox as each team hosted consecutive four-game series.
The scoring started early for Toledo when outfielder Nick Castellanos hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Argenis Diaz in the first inning.
Ben Guez stretched the Mud Hens lead to 2-0 in the third inning when he connected for his 13th homer of the year.
Castellanos and Jordan Lennerton joined in the fifth by going back-to-back off Alfredo Aceves. Castellanos’ blast scored Diaz again for a two-run shot and a 4-0 lead for Toledo before Lennerton followed suit.
The Red Sox got on the board in the sixth when Alberto Rosario connected for a homer off Pat Misch.
The Mud Hens responded with three more runs in the top of the seventh thanks to a two-run homer from Alex Avila and a Mike Cervenak RBI double to give them a 9-1 lead.
Pawtucket scored three runs in the seventh inning, one in the eighth, and one in the ninth, but Guez singled in his second run of the game in the top of the eighth to give the Mud Hens a larger cushion of victory.
The Mud Hens travel to Lehigh Valley for a four-game set before returning home for a eight-game homestand that features contests against Columbus, Indianapolis, and Louisville.
