BUFFALO — The Mud Hens scored runs in five of their first six innings and rolled to a 12-3 victory over Buffalo on Saturday.

Toledo racked up 17 hits — every starter but Jordan Lennerton had at least one – to tie its season high in runs for a game and win for the fourth time in its last five contests.

The Mud Hens broke on top in the second inning on a home run by Danny Dorn, his team-leading 20th of the season.

In the third inning Toledo scored twice on an RBI double by Danny Worth and a sacrifice fly by Nick Castellanos, then tacked on a pair in the fourth thanks to a run-scoring double by Kevin Russo and an RBI single by Avisail Garcia.

Buffalo got a run back in the bottom of the fourth, but Toledo knocked around Sergio Santos to score three times in the fifth.

Castellanos singled and stole second, then moved to third on a single by Dorn. Ben Guez hit a grounder that Bisons second baseman Mike McCoy misplayed for an error that scored Castellanos and pushed Dorn to second. Mike Cervenak singled to load the bases, and Russo hit a sacrifice fly to plate Dorn before Brad Davis hit into a forceout to bring home Guez.

Buffalo scored twice in the bottom of the fifth, but the Hens just kept scoring, adding three runs in the sixth. Santos walked Worth and was replaced by Joel Carreno, who walked Castellanos with one out. Then with two outs Guez hit a popup that Menenori Kawasaki lost sight of for a single that scored Worth.

Cervenak then doubled to bring home Castellanos and Guez.

Toledo added an unearned run in the ninth when Cervenak and Davis both singled, and Cervenak came home when Garcia’s grounder resulted in an error by Goins at shortstop.

Cervenak led the way for the Hens with four hits, while Guez and Russo each added three hits.
