Toledo's professional baseball and hockey teams will play on the same night next spring.

The Mud Hens open their 2014 season at 4 p.m. on April 4 against Louisville at Fifth Third Field.

The Walleye will host Fort Wayne at 7:15 p.m. that night at the Huntington Center.

The Mud Hens, which announced their 2014 schedule Wednesday, start their 13th season at Fifth Third Field with a six-game homestand. Toledo opens with a three-game series against Louisville and then hosts Indianapolis in a three-game series.

The Hens play 33 of their 72 home games on weekend dates with 11 on Fridays, 11 on Saturdays, and 11 on Sundays.

The club's first 12 home games are against divisional opponents. On Saturday, April 26, the team hosts Gwinnett in the first nondivisional game of the season.

Game promotions include jersey-themed nights, three school celebration days, scout experience day, and other special appearances. More than 24,000 students participated in the school celebration days this season.

Next season will be the 28th consecutive year that the Mud Hens will serve as the Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.
