The Mud Hens let an early lead slip away, and then their rally fell short 6-5 against Indianapolis today at Fifth Third Field.

Toledo led Indianapolis 2-0 after two innings but the Indians scored five runs off of Hens starter Jose Alvarez.

Jordan Lennerton, Mike Cervenak, Danny Dorn, and Argenis Diaz each had two hits. Lennerton had a solo home run in the eighth inning to pull Toledo within a run.

Relievers Kenny Faulk and Luke Putkonen kept the game close for the Mud Hens but the comeback fell short before a crowd of 9,233 at Fifth Third Field.

Alvarez, who entered the game with the most wins of any Hens pitcher with eight victories, pitched two scoreless innings that included four strikeouts. But Indianapolis then struck for five runs, including four earned, against Alvarez.

The Mud Hens have on off day on Monday before playing eight more in a row at home beginning Tuesday against Norfolk.
