Hens sweep 2-game series from Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — The Mud Hens won their third game in a row by beating Indianapolis 6-2 on Tuesday night. Toledo broke on top in the second inning when Jordan Lennerton singled, then scored on a double by Danny Worth.Indianapolis tied the game in the fifth inning when Darren Ford homered, but the Hens retook the lead in the sixth when Danny Dorn singled and Mike Cervenak doubled him home.Toledo add a run in the seventh when Ben Guez walked and then Nick Castellanos cracked an RBI double.

Octavio Dotel made a brief rehab appearance in the seventh, but he was hit on the thigh by a Jerry Sands grounder that went for a single, and the Indians eventually scored a run on a groundout.Toledo broke the game open with two more runs during the eighth inning when an error on a potential double-play grounder opened the door for a two-run single by Argenis Diaz.

The Hens added a ninth-inning insurance run when Castellanos scored on a wild pitch. Castellanos named to IL postseason all-star teamHens outfielder Nick Castellanos was named to the International League’s postseason all-star team.

Castellanos has hit .275 in 129 games for Toledo with 16 home runs and 71 RBIs. He leads the IL with 78 runs scored and is one of the IL leaders with 36 doubles.Rochester’s Chris Colabello was named the IL’s MVP and rookie of the year, while Durham’s J.D. Martin was the pitcher of the year. Charlie Montoyo of Durham is the IL’s manager of the year.
