Tomlin stymies Hens as Clippers take win

COLUMBUS — Yhoxian Medina’s double in the fifth inning scored the go-ahead run Sunday as Columbus defeated the Mud Hens 2-1.

The loss drops Toledo to 61-82 with one game left in the season, while Columbus improved to 70-73.

Medina’s line drive to left field scored Justin Toole with two outs off of Mud Hens’ starter Jair Jurrjens (7-10).

Toledo built a 1-0 lead when Argenis Diaz singled center field to score Danny Dorn.

Columbus responded in the bottom of the frame as Omir Santos drove in Nate Spears with a single.

Jurrjens pitched seven innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits, while striking out four and walking one.

Josh Tomlin won for the second time this season in Triple-A. The 28-year-old pitcher is recovering from Tommy John surgery and has not pitched in the majors since Aug. 12, 2012.

He went five innings, allowing one run while fanning five. Bryan Price earned his second save.

Bryan Holaday was 2-for-3 with a walk for Toledo. Ben Guez had a double.

Spears was 2-for-3 with a walk for the Clippers.
