INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Mud Hens went on the road for the first time this season tonight and lost in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Toledo led Indianapolis 3-1 after five innings but the Indians rallied for two runs to tie it in the sixth. Indianapolis then won 4-3 with an RBI single by Chris Dickerson off of reliever Nate Robertson in the ninth.
Toledo left fielder J.D. Martinez smacked a solo home run and finished 3 for 4 at the plate. Catcher James McCann drove in two runs and finished 2 for 4.
Mud Hens starter Kyle Lobstein (0-1) gave up one earned run on six hits over 5 1/3 innings. Lobstein struck out six batters. Robertson (0-2) gave up two hits and one run to suffer the loss.
Toledo trailed 1-0 when it scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Mike Hessman started the rally with a single. After Ben Guez walked, McCann drove in both runners with a single. The one-out grounder into center field made it 2-1.
Martinez then followed that up with a two-out solo home run to center field that gave Toledo a 3-1 lead.
But the Indians tied it back up at 3 with two runs in the sixth inning.
Toledo fell behind 1-0 in the first when Indianapolis scored on a fielder's choice.
The Mud Hens (2-4) play at Indianapolis (6-1) again on Friday at 7:15 and Saturday at 7:05.
