PAWTUCKET, R.I. — The Toledo Mud Hens got homer happy for their second win in a row, defeating host Pawtucket 4-0 on Wednesday.

Mike Hessmen hit two of the four home runs to lead Toledo to the victory.

The Mud Hens (13-20) finished with six hits, but the first four of the game all left the yard as Tyler Collins and Ben Guez also connected with long shots.

Meanwhile, the pitching for Toledo was just as stout as the Hens held Pawtucket (19-15) to just six hits, led by starter Kyle Lobstein, who went 6 1/3 innings, allowed four hits, and struck out nine batters. His strong outing lowered his season earned run average to 5.01. Chad Smith and Jose Ortega combined with Lobstein to finish the shutout, fanning three more Red Sox.

Brandon Douglas’ double in the top of the eighth was the first nonhomer by Toledo in the game.

Hessmen finished 3 for 4 with two RBIs after collecting a single in the ninth to go with his seventh and eighth home runs of the season.

Pawtucket’s Brandon Workman gave up all four homers before being pulled in the eighth inning. He went seven-plus innings, allowing four hits and striking out five.

The Red Sox’s Ryan Roberts and Alex Hassan each finished with two hits in the loss.
