CHARLOTTE — Home runs by the Mud Hens’ Trevor Crowe, Wade Gaynor, and Manny Pina provided the firepower in Toledo’s 4-3 road win at Charlotte on Sunday.

It was a solo shot from Pina that kicked things off in the top of the third. Hernan Perez singled in Brandon Douglas later in the inning.

Gaynor’s homer came just an inning later but the Knights responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the Toledo lead to just one.

Crowe gave the Hens a two-run lead in the top of the seventh with his third of the year.

Robbie Ray picked up his fourth win of the year for Toledo (37-40), allowing two earned runs over 6 2/3 innings, giving up four hits while striking out five.

The Hens will look to even the series in the finale today in Charlotte (27-50).

First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
