Collins, McCann help Hens pound Bats 9-4

LOUISVILLE — James McCann homered and Tyler Collins had three RBIs as Toledo defeated host Louisville 9-4 for its second straight victory.

Mud Hens starter Shawn Hill (7-6, 4.49 ERA) held the Bats to five hits over five innings. He gave up one earned run, walked one, and did not have a strikeout.

Kenny Faulk and Justin Miller each pitched two innings to finish off the eight-hitter.

The Mud Hens scored three runs in the top of the second inning to take a 3-1 lead. Daniel Fields had an RBI groundout, and Collins added a two-run single.

McCann hit his seventh home run of the season with one out in the third inning.

Toledo, which collected 13 hits, scored three runs in the sixth inning. Ben Guez doubled home two runs with one out, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Collins.

Jon Moscot (1-1, 5.71 ERA) took the loss for Louisville. The right-hander gave up seven earned runs on seven hits over five innings.

Louisville has now allowed 1,390 hits this season, tying the franchise record for hits allowed, which was set in 1991. With the loss, the Bats have a home losing record for the third straight season, which is also a franchise record.

Jason Bourgeois had his 44th multihit game of the season.
