Szor to conduct works of Lloyd Webber

Conductor Sam Szor will lead the Toledo Concert Band in a Music Under the Stars program titled “Andrew Lloyd Webber: The Phantom of Broadway.” Guest artists are violinist Seth Gangwer and dancers from the Toledo Ballet School. The free concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the Toledo Zoo amphitheater.

Jean Holden and the Lisa Holden Quartet will perform from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight in the Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Dr. Tickets are $6 for general admission, $5 for students, and $4 for members. Information: 419-936-2986.

Also in the garden, guitarist Christopher Joseph will perform at 12:15 p.m. tomorrow and vibraphonist Jack Kesling will perform at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Garden Caf .

The Watoto Children's Choir will perform at 7 p.m. tomorrow in Toledo Mennonite Church, 5501 Nebraska Ave.

Dance instructors Ruth Mesnil and Bud Kerwin are presenting a workshop titled Hooked On Dance Sunday through Aug. 6. Classes meet three hours daily, are open to all experience levels, and meet at the Dance Studio, St. Ursula Academy, 4025 Indian Road. Cost is $275. Some scholarships may still be available. Conductor/composer John Williams will lead the Cleveland Orchestra in two all-Williams programs cthis weekend at the Blossom Festival in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Lyric Opera Cleveland will present John Adams' and June Jordan's I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky at 7 p.m. Wednesday in The Drury Theatre of the Cleveland Play House, 8500 Euclid Ave., Cleveland. MICHIGAN

The Detroit Symphony will perform three separate programs over the weekend at the Meadow Brook Music Festival in Rochester Hills. Tomorrow's 8 p.m. program is titled “Gypsy Spirit” and features music by Brahms, Piazzola, and others. The 8 p.m. Saturday program features pianist Horacio Gutierrez performing music of Brahms and Dvorak. The 7:30 p.m. Sunday program features vocalist Dianne Reeves in a program titled “Celebrating Sarah Vaughn.” Tickets range of $18 to $56 in advance and $21 to $59 at the door.
