Fiddle contest scheduled at Sauder

Sauder Village in Archbold will host a fiddle contest Saturday. Fiddlers from across the region will compete in the student and adult categories at 1 p.m. in Founders Hall. The band Just Bluegrass will kick off the event at 12:30 p.m. Village hours on Saturday are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Music Under the Stars opens its season Sunday in the Toledo Zoo amphitheater, 2700 Broadway. The theme is Broadway: A Passion to Perform. The free performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 15.

The University of Toledo department of music's Summer Sings, its annual choral offering, continues under conductor William Schwepe, with a reading of Rutter's Requiem at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Center for Performing Arts. Registration is $8. Information: 419-530-4558.

The Walbridge Park concert series will feature folk music by Jeff Stewart from 7 to 9 tonight in the park on Broadway.

The River City Boys Quartet will be in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday in Calvary Bible Chapel, 3740 West Alexis Rd. A free-will offering will be taken.

The Menus will perform at 9 p.m. Saturday at "Party in the Park" in Kalida, Ohio. Admission is $6 for those 21 and older to the party at the tennis courts in Community Park, State Rt. 115, on the north side of Kalida.

The Friends of the Wood County Public Library will host a benefit concert featuring tenor Shawn Mathey at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the atrium at the library, 251 North Main St. Bowling Green. Tickets are $25. Information: 419-352-5104.

Ohio Light Opera presents The Merry Widow at 8 tonight, and 2 p.m. Wednesday; Patience at 8 p.m. tomorrow and 2 p.m. Sunday; The Vagabond King at 2 p.m. Saturday; South Pacific at 8 p.m. Saturday and Wednesday; and The Mikado at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
