Toledo Rep schedules a reading of 'Frozen'

As its first first EdgyRepReading of the season, the Toledo Repertoire Theatre will present Frozen by Bryony Lavery Oct. 14 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 316 Adams St. The plot involves a mother grieving for her murdered child as a criminal psychologist wrestles with the demons of a serial killer. A reception is scheduled at 7:30 p.m., followed by the reading at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 from 419-243-9277 and at the door.

Tickets are still available for the 10:30 p.m. Oct. 13 performance of Ron White's You Can't Fix Stupid Comedy Tour at the Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. The 7:30 p.m. show is sold out. Tickets are $39.75 from the box office. Information: 419-381-8851.

Sauder Village in Archbold has several special events coming up.

On Saturday, the "All Aboard" train event will feature telegraphy demonstrations, special exhibits, and model train displays throughout the village. Lectures include Kirk Hise discussing Toledo Terminal Railroad, Mark Camp on Wabash Depots of Northwest Ohio, and Laurie C. Dickens-Perkins on Wreck of the Wabash.

Other special events include Fall on the Farm on Oct. 14, Fall Butchering Day on Oct. 28, and the annual Woodcarvers' Show and Sale on Oct. 28 and 29.

Historic Sauder Village is at 22611 State Rt. 2 in Archbold. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission to the village is $12 for adults and $6 for students ages 6-16. Information: 800-590-9755

Billed as the next generation of Blue Collar comics. Reno Collier, Pat Dixon, and James Johann follow in the footsteps of Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Ron, White and Larry the Cable Guy. Also at the Ritz will be Harlan Jacobson's Talk Cinema Tiffin at 3 p.m. Oct. 15. Talk Cinema Tiffin is a film club that offers viewers a chance to see quality foreign and independent films before their release and films that have been released but ordinarily wouldn't be screened in this region. The films are followed by lively conversation. Tiffin joins Boston, Washington, Dallas, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Scottsdale, Ariz., as host to this event. Academy award-winning and Grammy-nominated comedian Steven Wright will perform at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 in Meyer Theater of the La-Z-Boy Center on the campus of Monroe Community College, 1555 South Raisinville Rd., Monroe. Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio, presents singer Frankie Avalon as the headliner for its homecoming concert at 8 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $30 from the box office. Information: 419-772-1900.

First Fridays, a celebration of works in progress by students of the Toledo School for the Arts, are held the First Friday of every month on the fourth floor of the TSA Building, 333 14th St. The reception begins at 9 a.m. tomorrow with visual arts and academic displays followed by a special half-hour performance at 9:30 a.m. featuring works from the music, dance, and theatre studios.
