Holiday-themed shows dominate area venues

The Lettermen's The Spirit of Christmas Show is scheduled at 8 p.m. Dec. 16 in the Valentine Theatre, 400 North Superior St. Their hits include "When I Fall in Love," "Summer Place," and "The Way You Look Tonight." Tickets range from $28 to $43 from the box office, 419-242-2787.

Ragtime Rick and the Chefs of Dixieland will perform at 8 p.m. Dec. 16 in a special jazzy holiday concert at the Franciscan Theatre and Conference Centre at Lourdes College, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania. Nationally syndicated talk-radio host and TV personality Glenn Beck will bring his third annual "Christmas Tour" Dec. 15 to the SeaGate Convention Centre, 401 Jefferson Ave. The one-man show includes storytelling by Beck and his amusing perspective on the holiday and will be hosted by Beck's local radio affiliates. The Villagers Holiday Show 2006 has added a Dec. 20 performance at LaRoe's Dinner Theater in Grand Rapids, Ohio; the other six dates have sold out. The Villagers of Friar Tucks will take the stage at 8 p.m. Dinner is served from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Tickets are $32 plus tax from 419-832-3082.

Ramona Collins returns to the world's oldest consistently running jazz club, Baker's Keyboard Lounge from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Dec. 16. Her Detroit band will be Funk Brothers piano man Bobby Jones, bassist Glen Oliver, drummer Bobby Welch, and saxman Allan Barnes, an original member of Donald Byrd's Blackbirds. Ticket go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday for two shows at the Stranahan Theater. Comedian George Carlin appears at 8 p.m. April 29. Opening will be Vance Gilbert. Tickets are $42.50.

And comedian Jim Gaffigan: Beyond the Pal Tour is scheduled at 8 p.m. Feb. 9. He is a regular on both CBS's Late Show With David Leterman and NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien, as well as the Bob & Tom Radio Show. Tickets are $32.50. AUDITIONS

The Croswell Opera House will hold auditions for the Valentine's Day musical She Loves Me from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the opera house, 129 East Maumee St., Adrian.
