Earth, Wind & Fire to perform at zoo

Earth, Wind & Fire, the Chicago band that combined elements of soul, jazz, and rock with rhythm and blues in the 1970s, will take the amphitheater stage of the Toledo Zoo, 2700 Broadway, at 7:30 p.m. June 1 for the second of its Circle K Summer Concert Series. Winner of six Grammy and four American Music awards, the group has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll and the Vocal Group halls of fame. Pop singer Kenny Loggins will give a concert at 7:30 p.m. June 15 at Centennial Terrace, 5773 Centennial Rd., Sylvania. Tickets are $23.50 for general admission and $50.50 for reserved seating from the Stranahan Theater box office, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd.; Ticketmaster outlets, or charge by phone at 800-745-3000.

Also at Centennial Terrace will be the Happy Together 25th anniversary tour, a concert of oldies music, at 7 p.m. May 31. Featured will be the Turtles with Flo and Eddie; the Grass Roots with Rob Grill; Mark Lindsay, the lead singer of Paul Revere & the Raiders; Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees, and the Buckinghams. Tickets are $23.50 for general admission and $40.50 for reserved seating.

A Hall of Fame Spectacular is scheduled at 7 p.m. June 6 in the Stranahan Theater. Performing will be Dion; Charlie Thomas, former lead singer of the Drifters; Shirley Alston-Reeves, original lead of the Shirelles; the Flamingos with Terry Johnson, and the Soul Stirrers with Willie Rogers, who will give a tribute to Sam Cook.
