ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Singer-songwriter and pianist Ben Folds is headlining a charity concert to raise money for need-based scholarships to the University of Michigan.

The solo artist and frontman for Ben Folds Five is set to perform Thursday evening at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor. The show caps a day of on-campus events that features arts organizations, a capella groups and dance performances.

The charity concert's lead sponsor is Michigan Hillel and it's presented by MUSIC Matters, which stands for Michigan Undergrads Serving in the Community.

MUSIC Matters says it's focusing on college affordability and will use proceeds from the event to endow one of the first student-funded scholarships at the university.

Tickets start at $20.
