It's a heavy metal hard rock weekend in Toledo on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with Toledo's Damien celebrating its 30th birthday with a concert in one location and the Jamboree Music Festival in another.

Damien will bring its aggressive brand of metal to the Rocket Bar, 135 S. Byrne Rd., Saturday night for an anniversary concert that also serves as the band's first show of 2013. The band, which emerged from the early '80s hard rock renaissance and at one time was on a national label, has a new album called "Beyond Apathy."

A guest appearance at Saturday's show is expected from former Judas Priest vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owen. Opening bands will be Sweet Revenge and Downspeed. Tickets are $10 and are available at Loonar Stations, Mr. E's Smokin' Gift Shop, Culture Clash, and All-Star Music.

The Jamboree Music Festival will be at Headliners, 4500 N. Detroit Ave., with a few related events at Frankie's Inner City on Main Street in East Toledo.

A pre-party will be held Friday at Frankie's featuring Detroit punk band Fireworks along with Louder Than Bombs, and a few other bands. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10 or $5 with the purchase of Jamboree weekend pass or free with a Jamboree VIP pass.

Saturday will be the first day of the Jamboree with doors opening at 11 a.m. at Headliners. Among the bands playing will be Every Time I Die, Citizen, The Story So Far, and numerous others. An after-party will be held at Frankie's with a performance by Andrew W.K. Tickets are $20 or $10 with the purchase of a Jamboree weekend pass or free with a Jamboree VIP pass.

Sunday will feature a strong metal lineup with Hatebreed, Miss May I, After The Burial, and more. Doors open at 11 a.m. and music starts at noon. Ticket prices range from $30 to $100 and are available along with information at thejamboreeohio.com.
