Big band music performed by the Johnny Knorr Orchestra will fill the air this summer

It wouldn't be summer in northwest Ohio without the big band music of the Johnny Knorr Orchestra filling the night air.

The orchestra is now led by Johnny Knorr's son Jerry and this is the 53rd year that the group has been performing. Johnny Knorr died in 2011 at the age of 90.

Here is the schedule of performances this year:

Saturday -- Centennial Terrace, 5773 Centennial Rd., the music of Glenn Miller, 7:30-10:30 p.m., $10.

Sunday -- Christ Presbyterian Church, corner of Sylvania Avenue and Talmadge Road, Thanks For the Memory concert, 7-8:30 p.m., free.

July 6 -- Centennial Terrace, A Salute to America and its Veterans, 7:30-10:30, p.m., $10, with veterans admission half price.

July 25 -- St. Mary's Park, Monroe, Mich., Concert in the Park, bring lawn chairs and blankets, 7-8:30 p.m., free.

July 28 -- City Park, Bowling Green, Concert in the Park, bring lawn chairs and blankets, 7-8:30 p.m., free.

Aug. 23 -- Centennial Terrace, More Music of Glenn Miller, 7:30-10:30 p.m., $10.

Sept. 14 -- Centennial Terrace, Music from Broadway to Hollywood, roast dance, bon fires, casual dress, 7:30-10:30 p.m., $10.
