Talk about a blast from the past: The Drifters and The Coasters will bring the Doo-wop sounds of the 1950s to the Hollywood Casino on Friday night.

Expect to hear such timeless classics as “Poisin Ivy,” “Yakety Yak,” “Love Potion Number Nine,” “Charlie Brown,” “Save the Last Dance For Me,” “There Goes My Baby,” and “Up on the Roof,” when they perform at 8 p.m. in the H Lounge. The event is free. You must be 21 or older to attend.

The casino is located at 1968 Miami St., Toledo. More information at Hollywoodcasino.com.

    ■ Families can get a 24-hour jump on their New Year’s celebration with a visit Saturday to Imagination Station, 1 Discovery Way.

It’s being billed as New Year’s Eve Eve, and includes the usual complement of hands-on exhibits, with children encouraged to make their own noise makers. At 2:18 p.m. attendees can ring in the New Year a day early when 10,000 bouncy balls will be dropped in the museum atrium.

The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., including New Year’s Day. Regular admission is $12 for adults, $11 for seniors, and $10 for children ages 3-13. This Saturday, however, is Lucas County Day, which means two children will be admitted free per paying adult. More information at imaginationstationtoledo.org or 419-244-2674.

    ■ Looking for an offbeat way to ring in 2018 with the kids? Consider Dave & Buster’s New Year’s Eve celebration from 5-8 p.m. Sunday.

The venue, 5001 Monroe St., is offering two family-oriented packages. The first ($31.57 per person) includes an appetizer buffet with family favorites, dessert, unlimited soft drinks, a $20 Power Card per guest, and a video ball drop to ring in the New Year. Package 2 ($39.96) features all those things, plus unlimited game play.

More information and reservations at www.dnb.ticketbud.com/toledonye17 or 419-481-9800.

    ■ Why not couple one of the above holiday activities with an old favorite: Noon Years Eve at the Toledo Zoo?

Running from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the zoo and aquarium, 2 Hippo Way, the event includes craft time, an ice carving demonstration, animal feeds, and the Ice Slide and Bumper Cars on Ice in the Winter Village sponsored by Kroger. The stroke of noon will witness the rising of a recycling ball, a cascade of biodegradable confetti, apple juice toast, and a chorus of “Auld Lang Syne.”

Admission for nonmembers is $17 for adults and $14 for children and seniors. Those younger than 2 admitted free. Visit toledozoo.org or 419-385-4040.
