WASHINGTON - Four new postage stamps highlighting the many aspects of Abraham Lincoln's life are to be released today as the nation commemorates his 200th birthday this week.
The 42-cent stamps depict him as a rail-splitter, a lawyer, a politician, and as U.S. president.
A ceremony marking the issuance of the stamps is scheduled for this morning in Springfield, Ill., where Lincoln is buried. Lincoln, the 16th president, was born Feb. 12, 1809, in Kentucky.
