RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.  — Authorities say workers have been injured in an industrial accident at Arkansas Nuclear One in Russellville — but that the incident did not cause radiation or affect the nuclear reactor.

Pope County Sheriff Aaron Duvall says a construction accident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. today. The accident left an unknown number of workers injured.

The Arkansas Department of Health says the public is not at risk after the incident.

Little Rock television station KTHV reported that several people living near the plant reported hearing a large boom or crash at the time of the accident.

No other details have been released about the incident.

Arkansas Nuclear One is owned by Entergy Arkansas.
