KINGSTON, N.H. — Family and friends have gathered at a New Hampshire church to remember the woman whose son massacred 20 students and six educators in a Connecticut elementary school last year.

More than 100 mourners attended the service at the First Congregational Church in Kingston, where Nancy Lanza once lived.

She was the first victim of her 20-year-old son Adam’s December rampage, shot dead in their home before he blasted his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School.

A police officer played the bagpipes outside as mourners lined up to enter the church. A few of them cried as they left.

A private funeral for Nancy Lanza was held in town less than a week after the Dec. 14 shootings.
