BOSTON — Teresa Heinz Kerry, hospitalized Sunday in Boston after suffering seizure-like symptoms at her home in Nantucket, Mass., was upgraded from fair to good condition Thursday and moved to a rehabilitation hospital.

Glen Johnson, spokesman for her husband, Secretary of State John Kerry, said doctors have concluded that she suffered a seizure but they did not know the cause.

Ms. Heinz Kerry, 74, was transferred Thursday from Massachusetts General Hospital to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Her condition has steadily improved since Monday, when she was upgraded from serious to fair condition. She had been hospitalized on Nantucket while there with her husband. After being stabilized, she was flown to Boston for further testing.

“We are blessed to have so many people care about Teresa, and by the continued grace of God and the prayer of everybody, she will soon share herself just how much she appreciates every last expression of kindness directed toward her and our family,” Mr. Kerry said Thursday. He is to split his time between Boston and Washington and will resume his official travel schedule soon, Mr. Johnson said.
