Woman gives birth to boy on restroom floor of Subway restaurant in Nevada

RENO, Nev. — A 21-year-old woman gave birth to a boy today on the restroom floor of a Subway restaurant in Nevada.

Assistant manager Flora Vargas says the woman entered the restaurant in Minden, 40 miles south of Reno, about 9:30 a.m., screamed she was in labor and raced for the women’s restroom.

Vargas and the restaurant manager quickly put Subway wrappers and trash bags on the floor for sanitation, and the woman gave birth within several minutes of coming into the business.

Vargas says it was fortunate that paramedics arrived immediately after the birth.

Paramedics took the mother and baby to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.

Vargas says it was a relief that both the mother and baby appeared healthy after the birth on the restroom floor.
