2 Grand Rapids officers OK after man throws pot of boiling water at them

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Grand Rapids man threw a pot of boiling water at two police officers as they tried to take him into custody for a mental health evaluation.

The incident began Friday night when police responded to a call about a man playing loud music and dragging a propane tank into the street. The man fled into his home before throwing hot water at officers.

Police say he was eventually arrested early today. Two officers were treated for minor burns and cleared to return to duty.
