INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis woman has been hospitalized after jumping from a window more than 20 feet off the ground to escape a fire that’s being investigated as a possible arson.

Indianapolis firefighters say 22-year-old Paige Conroy was transported to a hospital for possible injuries from the fall and for smoke inhalation.

The fire was reported about 4:30 a.m. today at a home in the Woodruff Place neighborhood east of downtown Indianapolis.

Another resident of the home, 29-year-old Brandon Kitch, told firefighters that he believes an acquaintance started the fire after an altercation at work hours earlier.

Firefighters say the blaze damaged a stairwell. Total damages were estimated at $20,000.
