University of Michigan to give honorary degree to Michigan State President Lou Anna Simon

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The University of Michigan plans to give an honorary degree to the president of its in-state rival.

Michigan State University President Lou Anna Simon is to receive an honorary doctorate of laws degree during Michigan’s December commencement Sunday in Ann Arbor.

Simon has headed up the East Lansing school since 2005.

National Public Radio correspondent and host Michele Norris-Johnson will receive an honorary doctor of humane letters degree and deliver the winter commencement address.
