DETROIT — A prosecutor has filed manslaughter charges against three adults in the death of a 4-year-old Detroit boy who was accidentally shot by his 4-year-old cousin as they played.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says the three were at a house Thursday when a 4-year-old girl found a loaded rifle in a room where children were playing.
Authorities say the girl shot Jamel Witcher Jr. In the chest.
Worthy says she filed involuntary manslaughter, child abuse and firearms charges Sunday against 53-year-old Patricia Johnson and 66-year-old Robert B. Richardson. The prosecutor says she charged 55-year-old Harvey Witcher with involuntary manslaughter and with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
It wasn’t immediately known if the suspects have lawyers.
