Small plane crashes in southeast Tennessee, 1 injured, pilot walks away from wreck

HENDERSON, Tenn. — Federal officials are investigating after one person sustained injuries and another walked away from a small plane crash in southeastern Tennessee.

The single-engine Cessna Skyhawk went down near Pinson in Chester County Friday night with two people on board.

Chester County Emergency Management Director Johny Farris told The Jackson Sun (http://bit.ly/1b6y85Y ) the plane left Ava, Mo., on Friday afternoon and was headed to Northwest Alabama Regional Airport in Muscle Shoals where the couple on board lives. Farris says the man was flying the plane and was able to walk away from the wreckage. The pilot’s wife was taken to a nearby hospital. Her condition was not immediately available Saturday.

The couple’s names were not released.

The plane is registered to an HR outsourcing firm, Lyons HRO Inc., in Florence, Ala.
