NEW YORK — Police say a 14-year-old boy has been arrested on a second-degree murder charge after gang-related gunfire on a Brooklyn bus claimed the life of an innocent bystander.
Police Commissioner William Bratton says the victim, 39-year-old Angel Rojas, was not the intended target in the Thursday night incident. He was shot in the back of the head.
Investigators suspect the shooting stemmed from a dispute between two gangs that had been taunting each other on social media.
The shooting happened at about 6:20 p.m. Thursday on a bus in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood.
Relatives say Rojas came to the United States four years ago from the Dominican Republic with his wife and two children.
