DETROIT — A large sinkhole has opened along a busy Detroit street.

City crews today have taped off the west side intersection at Monterey and Linwood.

Detroit Water and Sewerage Department spokesman Bill Johnson says the hole is about 30 feet by 30 feet by 16 feet and appears to have been caused by erosion due to a burst underground water pipe.

Johnson says no one has been injured and crews were on site Friday afternoon to make repairs.
