WAYLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Authorities in western Michigan have arrested a 15-year-old boy they say has confessed to fatally stabbing a 21-year-old woman and seriously wounding her 67-year-old grandmother.

The teen was arraigned today in District Court in Allegan on an open murder charge and an attempted murder charge. He’s charged as an adult.

The Associated Press isn’t naming him because of his age.

Authorities say that the boy killed Kassandra Keyzer and wounded Sharon Keyzer in Wednesday’s attack in Allegan County’s Wayland Township.

Police say the teen tried to flee, but they caught him.

Matthew Banas says he was a friend of Kassandra Keyzer and says she attended Aquinas College and worked in its Information Technology Department. He says she had a 3-year-old son.
