NICHOLASVILLE, Ky.  — Six people, including three children, are dead and four are injured after a fiery head-on collision in central Kentucky.

Nicholasville police patrolman Todd White says a station wagon was traveling northbound on U.S. 27 Thursday night when it lost control, crossed the median and collided head-on with a van.

Horrified motorists offered assistance. Some tried to pull the van away from the burning station wagon.

White says police are looking into the possibility that road rage or reckless driving by the station wagon’s driver played a role.

None of the victims was immediately identified. White says all passengers — two adults and three children — in the station wagon were killed. One adult in the van was killed.

The injured were taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
