To mark the beginning of Homeless Awareness Week, Monroe hosted a Walk for Warmth to raise money to defray costs incurred by local shelters. Walkers took to the streets around Loranger Square to make good on the pledges they raised, more than $11,000. Stephanie Kasprzak, executive director of the Monroe County Opportunity Program that organized the walk, sets off with nieces Madylin Zorn, 9, in cap, and Tessa Zorn, 11, in hand.
Joining in was a clutch of walkers that included April Corie, flanked by daughter Lauren Corie, 8, in Santa cap, and Sam Johnson, 11, all of Dundee.
