Whiteford Agricultural polling community on needs of district
11/12/2008OTTAWA LAKE - Whiteford Agricultural Schools has posted a survey on the district Web site to find out what qualities and characteristics the community wants from the new superintendent.
The questionnaire will be available for the next several weeks for residents, teachers, staff, and students to complete, said Holly Bunge, school board president.
"We are trying to seek community input as well as input from the staff, teachers, and students.
"We want their feelings on what is important to our district," she said.
A committee of administrators from the Monroe County Intermediate School District is helping Whiteford Agricultural's search to replace Craig Haugen, who resigned as the district's superintendent last month to take the superintendent's position at Jefferson Schools.
While the board searches for a new superintendent, former Ida Superintendent Herb Gabehart stepped in to lend an experienced hand.
Mr. Gabehart, who led Ida for 31 years, also took the helm at Mason Consolidated in 2007 after the district's superintendent resigned and while the school board conducted a search for a replacement.
The survey, available by going to whiteford.k12.mi.us., asks for participants to provide what they believe are the most significant strengths and concerns of the district and the personal qualities, characteristics, background, education, and experience desired in a new superintendent.
Whiteford Agricultural's next superintendent is expected to be on the job by July 1, 2009.
