Bedford library names speakers for its author series

TEMPERANCE -- The Bedford Branch Library has three speakers scheduled for its fall author series on the second Wednesday monthly at 7 p.m.

Oct. 12 -- Jane Bradley, director of the creative writing program at the University of Toledo, will talk about writing and her crime novel You Believers. The book, inspired by a crime with a Toledo connection, is her fifth and has received strong reviews. She has published a novella, a screenwriting text, and two collections of short fiction. The New York Times Book Review named her short story collection Power Lines an Editor's Choice. The native of Tennessee hill country has received numerous literary awards. She will sign copies of her novel after the program.

Nov. 9 -- Coach and author Jack Michael will talk about his novel Transfer Hero and his coaching career. The novel is a story of teamwork, the work ethic, friendship, and how young men should treat women, all told through the persona of a 16-year-old athlete. Book sale and signing follow.

Dec. 14 -- Katie Macaro, a graphic artist with the Monroe County Library System, is scheduled to offer advice on last-minute holiday gifts. The author and illustrator has written more than 20 books for children that also appeal to adults. Her book on Poland received play on NBC News. Her out-of-print titles will be available for purchase and signing.
