TEMPERANCE — Bedford Township will keep paying 90 percent of its employees’ medical insurance premiums in 2013.

The township board voted last week to opt out of Michigan’s Public Act 152, which limits a public employer’s expenditures for workers’ medical benefits. Board members noted employees received no raises for four years, with the exception of a 2 percent increase this year.

In other action, the board agreed to rezone 7428 Telegraph Rd. to general commercial from general industrial. The applicant, Paul Stark, plans to locate a lumber yard there.
