COLUMBUS, Ohio — The interim president of Ohio State University is promising to continue the vision of his predecessor as he leads one of the country’s biggest universities during the search for its next leader.

Joseph Alutto, who previously served as Ohio State’s executive vice president and provost, said today he wants to find ways to keep tuition low and will make recruiting the best students and faculty a priority.

Alutto will also plan new building projects, which could include filling the area where St. John Arena is located once the facility is demolished.

Alutto had high praise for former president Gordon Gee, who retired earlier this month just weeks after remarks become public that he made last year jabbing Roman Catholics and Southeastern Conference schools.
