BARCELONA — Ohio State All-American diver and Bedford graduate Cheyenne Cousineau finished seventh in the women's 10-meter synchronized final at the FINA World Championships on Monday.

The tandem of Cousineau and Murphy Bromberg, a Duke-bound high school senior, advanced to the 12-team finals and closed with a score of 301.74 points over five dives. China's Chen Ruolin, a reigning Olympic gold medalist, and Liu Huixia won with 356.28 points.

“We were a little nervous in the preliminaries," said Cousineau, who was competing in her first world championships. "Once we were in the finals, we knew we could enjoy ourselves. The pressure was off once we made finals. Being on this stage was a great experience. You have to learn to not let the pressure get to you."

Cousineau is a junior at OSU and a three-time former state champion at Bedford.
