I may be a latecomer, but come I did to the season's penultimate Farmers Market in Perrysburg's historic downtown.
It's a pleasant assualt on the senses. The riot of colors from seasonal produce included pumpkins and gourds in bright orange, pale white, mottled green, and buttery yellow. Big pots of mums in my favorite fall hues were everywhere.
One flower stand not only looked like it belonged in a painting but also smelled divine, with arrangements featuring herbs and decorative elements from edible plants.
Other aromas wafting up and down Louisiana Avenue made me flat-out hungry: fresh-baked bread, homemade jam, kettle corn, and barbequed pulled pork nachos. Yes, please.
My Syrian blood pulled me inexorably toward one booth selling baklava and butter cookies. When I saw a jar labeled Sitto's Dressing for fatoosh, I knew I had found a little bit of home.
I also found a bit of a love tale about a dear old aunt.
