On Saturday, I ducked into Stella's restaurant to warm up with some lobster bisque after visiting the pumpkin carving station at OctoBOOfest in the historic downtown area of Perrysburg.
Soon a large group came in to warm up with some libations. They were wearing matching costumes of a kind -- tuxedos and plum-colored cocktail dresses that gave them away as a wedding party.
They had just been part of the nuptials of Jason Whaley and Andrea Smeltzer at St. Andrew's in Toledo and were on their way to the reception at the Lodge at Strawberry Acres in Holland. The new couple made a pit stop at Hood Park to take photos along the Maumee River.
Jason's brothers Jameson and Jeff served as best men, and Andrea's sister Liz served as matron of honor. Anita Lopez, Lucas County auditor, was among the party as well.
