Signs announces upcoming senior housing at Harbor Town in Perrysburg.
A proposed 69-unit senior housing development at Harbor Town Place on Dixie Highway between Roachton and Five Point roads anticipates starting construction no later than spring.
Developer Miller-Valentine of Cincinnati has been granted its primary funding through the Ohio Housing Finance Agency. The project will cost $13 million to $14 million, said Pete Schwiegeraht of Miller-Valentine.
"We're still in the process at that site," Mr. Schwiegeraht said. "Hopefully the project will start construction this winter or early next spring."
The Perrysburg city council approved the subsidized senior housing project in a 4-3 vote in February. Somel councilmen objected to the plan as another instance of tapping the federal budget when the government has a deficit.
The three-story facility is to be available to people aged 55 and older. One-bedroom apartments likely will rent for under $600 a month and the two bedroom units at more than $600, the developer said.
Amenities include an on-site manager, theater, business center, fitness center, banquet facility, curb-to-curb transportation, a meals program, and housekeeping for those with needs.
Miller-Valentine also developed the Residenz of Sylvania senior housing in 2012 in Sylvania Township.
