The Perrysburg City Council‘s service-safety committee members said Monday that Costco has requested a license to sell beer and wine for its proposed store at State Rt. 25 and Eckel Junction Road but its request does not require a public hearing.
The request will be reviewed by the city administration for approval and then sent on to the Ohio Division of Liquor Control for approval.
Jon Eckel, city public service director, said the city typically doesn’t have a hearing for liquor licenses. The last one held was for one that would be near the current Perrysburg Junior High School, where, at the time, the high school was.
When Costco was last meetings with the city a spokesman said the company planned to open the store by the fall of 2015. It will be a 154,300 square feet with a 16 pump gas station.
Costco sell beer and wine by the bottle and can at its Westgate store in Toledo.
