Our Town Going Out

Area places offer entertainment, food for New Year's Eve

If you still haven't answered Harry Connick Jr.'s crooning question of what are you doing New Year's Eve, there are events in the Perrysburg area that will help you say goodbye to 2012 and welcome 2013.

The Funny Bone comedy club in Levis Commons will offer two performances by comedian Billy D. Washington, along with special buffets at the Fat Fish Blue restaurant and a champagne toast at the later show.

Washington has been featured at the Just for Laughs and HBO Aspen comedy festivals and for three years traveled with Aretha Franklin as her opening act. He has appeared on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, Last Comic Standing, The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and The Bob and Tom radio show, and he had been a host on VH-1.

Recognized by the NBC stand-up for diversity initiative, Washington is the creator of the S.E.L.L.O.U.T. Comedy Tour, a group of black comedians who challenge America to resolve racial differences one joke at a time. Video of his routines are available on Funny Bone's web site.

Performances are slated at 7 and 10 p.m. Monday. Tickets, which are $60 for the first show and $45 for the second, can be purchased by calling 419-931-3474. Reservations for dining slots will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

A little farther up Levis Commons Boulevard, Bar Louie is planning a private affair that will include an open bar, snack and breakfast buffets, champagne toast, and DJ music through the night.

The pub will close its doors to the general public at 6 p.m. New Year's Eve and reopen for ticket holders at 9 p.m., with the party going until 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Tickets cost $75 and must be purchased at Bar Louie. Call 419-874-9774 for information.

The Holiday Inn French Quarter on Fremont Pike in Perrysburg Township has a few spots left for its special festivities. Call 419-874-3111 to make reservations for an overnight stay, which will include a late checkout at 1 p.m. on the first day of the year.

Guests will enjoy hors d'oeuvres, a surf and turf buffet, eight drink tickets per couple, late-night snacks, midnight champagne toast, party favors, and a breakfast buffet.

The Green Eyed Soul Band and the NightLine Band will provide live entertainment.
