The Wood County Park District will screen the documentary film Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time today at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve in Perrysburg.
Green Fire recently received an Emmy award for best historical documentary at the 54th annual Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The first full-length documentary film ever made about environmentalist Aldo Leopold, it highlights Leopold's career, tracing how he shaped and influenced the modern environmental movement.
The film will be shown from 7:30-9 p.m. in the Hankison Great Room at the preserve, 29530 White Road, Perrysburg. A brief discussion will follow the film, and drinks and popcorn will be served.
Admission is free, but registration is requested by calling the park district at 419-353-1897 or registering at www.wcparks.org.
If you're looking to relax with a little music this weekend, Candice Coleman and Chris Brown are slated to play today at the Holiday Inn French Quarter in Perrysburg. The singers also play piano and rhythm guitar, and their selections include standards, blues, and ballads.

Basketball and hockey fans may be traveling to Sylvania this weekend as girls and boys varsity teams take on Southview, but there are Yellow Jackets with home events that would appreciate support as well.
Varsity boys wrestling has meets starting at 4:30 p.m. today at the high school, 13385 Roachton Rd., while varsity girls gymnastics begins at 7:30 p.m. Wrestling continues at 9 a.m. Saturday.
